If your Tide.lamp will not set up, the first thing to check is how it is being powered.
Before you startPlease plug your Tide.lamp into a proper USB wall charger. Do not plug your Tide.lamp into:
These ports are often designed for data, charging small devices, or powering accessories. They will not provide enough stable power for your Tide.lamp. Your Tide.lamp needs a USB power plug rated between 2 amps and 3 amps. We recommend using the USB C cable supplied with your Tide.lamp. If you use another USB cable, please make sure it is suitable for carrying more than 2 amps. Using the wrong power source can cause setup problems, including:
|
Step 1: Power your Tide.lamp correctly
- Plug the USB C cable into your Tide.lamp.
- Plug the other end into a suitable USB C wall charger rated between 2 amps and 3 amps.
- Plug the charger directly into a mains wall socket.
- Wait for the lamp to start.
When your Tide.lamp is in setup mode, the lamp will show a quick version of the tide routine.
Step 2: Check the app permissions
Open the Tidelight app on your phone or tablet.
If prompted, allow the app to use:
- Bluetooth
- Location
These permissions are needed so the app can find your Tide.lamp and help you choose a tide location.
Step 3: Check your WiFi network
Tide.lamp connects using 2.4GHz WiFi.
Please check that:
- You are using the correct WiFi name and password
- Your WiFi network has a password
- Your Tide.lamp is within range of your router
- You are not using a guest network with no password
- You are not using a WPA2 Enterprise only network
Tide.lamp will not connect to a WiFi network with a blank password.
Step 4: Try setting it up again
In the Tidelight app:
- Press Get Started.
- Log in or create an account.
- Search for your Tide.lamp.
- Enter your WiFi name and password.
- Choose your tide location.
- Add the location to your Tide.lamp.
Once connected, your Tide.lamp will begin showing the tide for your chosen coast.
Step 5: Reset your Tide.lamp if needed
If your Tide.lamp has already been partly set up, or if setup has failed several times, you may need to reset it.
Before resetting, please make sure the lamp is connected to a proper USB C wall charger, not a TV, router, computer, or other USB port.
To reset your Tide.lamp:
- Plug the USB C cable into your Tide.lamp.
- Turn the power on.
- Remove and reinsert the USB C power cable from the USB wall plug seven times in quick succession.
- On the final insertion, leave the power cable connected.
- The status light should flash green three times to show that a factory reset is taking place.
- The Tide.lamp will display the tide cycle to show that it is back in setup mode.
Still having trouble?
Please double check that you are using:
- A proper USB C wall charger
- A charger rated between 2 amps and 3 amps
- The supplied USB C cable, or another USB C cable suitable for more than 2 amps
- A 2.4GHz WiFi network with a password
If you still need help, please submit a support ticket and include:
